I am sooooooo grateful for these pictures that cartoonist Luis Chávez (of created for the song LET’S GO FLY A KITE. I could not believe my luck! And I’m absolutely smitten with how the pictures turned out and beside myself with delighted for having the tools I need to share with song with kids who might not otherwise get the chance to enjoy it. Miles introduced me to Luis Chavez and he agreed to make pictures for this song. I asked Miles about the artist and would this person maybe be willing to illustrate a song for me to sing (I’m shameless). It was such a terrific idea and the cartoons were wonderfully executed, each one an engaging image that made a clear, strong, and relatable point. He began to post fantastic political cartoons for his campaign. In 2019, my friend Miles Nelson ran a successful campaign for a City Council seat in Carmel, IN. These are songs that I KNOW kids would love to sing with picture books if only someone would make the pictures. I have been keeping a list of SONGS THAT NEED ILLUSTRATIONS for a long time.
